Liquid in a widening channel

The contact angle on all surfaces is 44 degrees, so Concus-Finn filaments can form. As the channel widens the the capillary force on the liquid decreases, since the ratio of free surface to wetted surface increases, and eventually the channel widens to the point where the bullk liquid stops. But the filaments go on.
