Non-wetting plug between converging rails.

The green liquid has a contact angle of 52 degrees with the rails, and the yellow liquid has a contact angle of 110 degrees. Since the yellow liquid is non-wetting, it resists moving into the narrow part, since its energy is higher there. The green liquid wants to move forward, but the yellow plug brings the advance to a halt.
