Liquid between rails with holes.

The contact angle on both rails is 25 degrees, which is low enough to get the liquid past the hole on both sides. Then the liquid merges beyond the hole, and the liquid surface at the hole settles to a catenoid shape. If the rails were a little farther apart or the hole a little smaller, the catenoid would collapse.
