Liquid drop in tapering gap between plates.

The contact angle on both plates is 80 degrees. Hence the liquid wants to wet as much plate area as it can, which means moving towards the narrow end as far as it can. If the contact angle were over 90 degrees, the drop would move to where it would become an exact spherical shape. The black stripe is just for visual reference.
