I made these models by using my Surface Evolver program to create the underlying surface, then taking the dual network of the triangle mesh to get a mostly hexagonal wire mesh (keeping all edges of valence 1 or over 2), using my Evolver script edge_tuber.cmd to tube the desired edges, and then my Evolver script stl.cmd to write the STL-format file that Shapeways.com needs.
The models are mostly scaled to be 10 cm in size, and have solid 1mm diameter tubing. The default material is white plastic, but you can pick other materials. For white plastic, the cost of each is between $10 and $25.
